Shepton High School is the second largest freshman/sophomore high school in PISD and was built on land once owned by Joseph W. Shepard.  Shepard was the son of Lewis Shepard and Mary Ann Huffman.  He married Mollie Haggard and together they had six children.  Shepard owned a thousand-acre ranch in the area.  In 1890, Shepard opened a general store on his ranch, and the farming town of Shepton developed in the vicinity of the store, roughly at the present-day corner of Park and Preston.  Shepard served on the local school board, the local church and was a civic leader in the area.

Shepton High School has a long history of academic excellence in the Plano community.  Home to approximately 1600 9th and 10th graders, Shepton offers a full range of courses in all academic areas including honors and Advanced Placement.  The Shepton Stallions compete in a variety of athletic and academic competitions and offer over 50 clubs to join.

Shepton High School opened in 1984 at its current location.  To accommodate the growth in the city, it moved to a larger facility from 1990-1998, located on Parker Road (the current location of Plano West Senior High School).  Shepton has since moved back to its original location and undergone many renovations to the building.  The current principal of Shepton High School is Courtney Gober.

Shepton has won numerous awards for its participation in athletics, business, fine arts, and other programs throughout the school.  The Shepton Chamber Orchestra of 2010-2011 won the Mark of Excellence in a national competition.  Other accomplishments include:
